  • Desmo996: How I TAC

Posted by Desmo996 on April 27, 2021 at 9:42 pm

1.) How many days per week do you play?

Since starting TAC I’ve played 6 days a week. 5 days for the lessons and a weekend to play songs and go over the fun things from the lessons.

2.) What time of day do you play?

I most often play around 6:30 pm after I get home from work… and before supper ready. This helps me decompress from the work day. If I know I’m not going to have time on a particular evening, then I’ll play in the morning before going to work around 6am. This can be tricky if the lesson is chords and the strumming might be loud… as the others in the house are sleeping.

    3.) Where do you play?

We have a bedroom in the basement that’s unfinished. That’s my playing space so it doesn’t disrupt the kids during the homework or sleep, depending on the lesson times.

4.) What was your guitar life like before having a guitar routine & how has implementing a consistent guitar routine helped you? (if possible name 3 ways).

    1. Real content. This is so important to me. I played in high school band and sang in chorus… it’s more than a few days but I can read music and know some theory. I had just been listening and learning from YouTube teachers – I do love me some Marty Swartz. However, what I longed for was understanding what I was playing. Sure Marty can teach me a song – he’s great. But his purpose wasn’t to teach me a song and tell me I’m in the key of G… and this is a 3, 4, 5 chord or whatever.

    2. Variety – I want to learn to dabble in all of it. I want to sound like Shinedown on an acoustical jam… and I want to sing along with Dave Grohl to Everlong. At the same time, I’m excited to play Landslide and Dust in the wind. Then I’m ready to switch to Jessie’s Girl or Jason Aldean. So far the TAC is providing lessons and giving me foundations in all of these areas.

    3. Consistency, motivation and accountability. We all know that doing something on a regular basis… at least 21 days enable us to form a habit. Having a quick daily lesson gives me something to consistently focus on… and helps me to develop and practice a good habit. Motivation – the TAC lessons have just enough challenge for me that I’m motivated each time to push myself to complete the challenge. Accountability – I can’t let the team down… I feel like I need to do my lesson each day.. the TAC team is holding me accountable to do my lessons… because I asked them to do so by signing up for TAC. I have a guitar dream… TAC guarantees me progress and success in reaching that dream… if I follow their system… thus this hold me accountable to the TAC. Plus, Tony’s got an easy going voice and presents the lessons wonderfully. Which is actually one of the things that drew me to listening to his presentation.

5.) Bonus Question: What is one non-guitar item that is a must have in your guitar routine?

Well right now it’s the computer or iPad to watch lessons. I have always had a note pad and pen to write notes too.
