  • Don P. – How I TAC – 4/27/21

1.) How many days per week do you play?

I want to say that I play 7 days a week for 30 minutes each day. Truth be told, I play 3 or 4 days a week for 10 to 20 minutes a session.

2.) What time of day do you play?

I work the graveyard shift. When I get home from work at 7am, I only want to get the kids to school, eat everything in the refrigerator, and sleep. Guitar comes between 2 & 8pm.

    3.) Where do you play?

We have a nice quiet “music room” where it’s easy to sit and play without distractions for at least a little while. I’ll play in there for a daily or two.

4.) What was your guitar life like before having a guitar routine & how has implementing a consistent guitar routine helped you?

    • I think about playing my guitar constantly. When I am at work I listen to Tony’s Daily Challenge on a loop hoping it will help me hear it better when I am practicing. Before my TAC routine I would play the blues riff I knew and strum a few chords trying to make the same old stuff fun again.

•Now I can string together a bunch of my favorite daily’s and see the connections that make them sound good together.

•With all the demands and responsibilities in life, I always doubted the validity of spending time to get better at something that doesn’t have any tangible impact. The TAC community helped me realize it’s ok (and essential) to invest some time in myself for myself.

5.) What is one non-guitar item that is a must have in your guitar routine.

    My hat.
