  • Double Axle and solo with chord tones

Today, while I tried some solos with the Double Axle scale, I connected the dots from the Fret Board Wizard course. The backing track (Ice Dancing) consists of I, IV, and V chords in the key of G. Because the chords change rapidly, it can be a challenge to find the “right” notes that sound harmonically “correct”.

I was able to dissect the scale and realize the root (I) chord (triad) was the 1st, 3rd, and 5th notes of the scale, the IV chord (triad) was the 4th, 6th and 8th (root octave) notes of the scale, and the V chord (triad) was the 5th, 7th and 9th (octave of 2nd) notes of the scale.

Knowing where the notes were on the fret board😃 made it easier to find a solo that pleased my ear🙂.
