  • Exercises, Licks, Improv, Rhythm and Chord Section

Please bring back access to this. This is how I ‘used to’ use TAC. I would log in, and go to exercises. I would spend my first 15 minutes going through finger picking and flat picking exercises – and was working my way through all of them. I would then go to Skills section and work on that. So, Skills section is still available. While I’ve done these exercises many times, I don’t ‘remember’ them. So, I’m no longer doing this as part of my daily routine. (sad face)

I have found tremendous benefit and faster skill acquisition when I take one exercise and focus intensely on just the one exercise for 15 minutes. Worth a try?

I was doing that as I was working through the list. After spending my first 15 minutes working through exercises, licks, chords, etc, I would then spend 15 or more minutes working on something new from that list. Often, it was something that I was trying to acquire to help me build out a needed/missing skillset. Now, I can only access the exercises that have become available, again, recently. Much like the skills section, these exercises (etc) already exist. I have to wait for them to come back around so that I can re-heart them.

Yes, I get what you are saying now. From what I have gathered from listening to Tony’s evolving philosophy, targeted focus on a single thing yields better results than many things simultaneously. Are you finding that within the weeks structure you don’t feel you have enough variation to develop how you want? For instance I will do the Monday “warm up” every day, each session I have. I may also do the improv for the previous week equally as many times. It can be redundant but there are cool things that happen as I get beyond the boredom of the repetition.

You have been a member since 2015, right? I’ve been a member since 2018. So, this is the second to third time I’ve worked through the weekly content. Thus, being able to pick and choose the past content that I want to work on as it relates to MY guitar journey – is now me waiting for those given weeks/days to come back around again – which I am doing and will continue to do. I love TAC. But, if people don’t mention or request these things – then TAC won’t have this feedback – thus this post.

I miss having access to the exercises too, and they are in line with the other material, because it is material they teach. The daily lessons are great, but I agree that I like to pick and choose what to work on and what to practice/warmup with. It was part of the TAC package that was bought into originally. I’m saving all the lessons as favorites, but they don’t go into organized subfolders. It is simply a list of them. It would be much better to have all of Monday’s speed challenges go into a folder when I favorite them. Have all scales go into a separate folder; all chord progressions in their own folder, etc. That would be so beneficial for me building my own library (which will take 8 months to go through the dailies and favorite them all). I still think it would be easier if TAC just reinstated them so we can pick and choose and then favorite only the ones we truly favor.
