Tony’s Acoustic Challenge – The New Way to Learn Guitar Family Forums Small Wins Field Trip to See and Play Awesome Guitars

Today I took a trip to nearby Akron, Ohio to Lay’s Guitar Shop to drop off my Taylor for some set up and fret work. While I was there I was invited up to “The Loft” and given the freedom to play acoustics that before joining TAC I didn’t even know existed (Santa Cruz, Bourgeois, Bedell, Maton) along with some I did (Taylor’s, Martins, Gibsons and Epiphones and Takamines). Oh, and they had some beautiful electrics there as well! Didn’t buy anything (yet) – need to build up my guitar fund before taking that plunge! The folks there were very inviting and nice. Here is their web page of you are interested in having a gander. https://laysguitar.com/the-loft/

Wow, that looks like guitar heaven! Couldn’t help but notice that little (yet) disclaimer in your post, though – maybe they had a nice resonator or two you could try out?😆

Oddly enough no resonators were in their collection @GerryB56 !

@Bill_Brown there was a Bedell parlor sized guitar made entirely of Brazilian Rosewood. The guitar sounded beautiful, was a dream to play and put out unbelievable volume for a guitar of that size. The price tag started with a 6 and had three zeros behind it – no decimal places. A bit rich for my budget! It sure was fun to play though 😎🎸🎶

Yea, you’re right about that. I took a look at their “Reverb” (used equipment) Store within the link you provided, and I didn’t see much that was less than a 1 with three zeros behind it (no decimal points)😱 It was nice stuff mind you, but too rich for my blood also.😞

Yeah @Bill_Brown – it made me a bit wistful. They were fun to see and play. Never mind – I still have plenty of learning and growing to do with my current Guitarsenal – there isn’t a more expensive guitar out there that will help me magically improve my skill! 😂 That said, there are plenty of very cool and desirable guitars in the “affordable” category that could be calling our names someday! 😉😎🎸🎶
