I know I’m not the only one that has issues strumming. I finally broke down and took the 10 Essential Strumming Patterns Course. It makes sense. I think it will help me out to on my quest to be a Rock Star.

Haha @Cadgirl , I’d be happy as a fairly decent plunder of strings, regardless of genre. Great win completing the course. There are so many different strum patterns to learn, and they’re all challenging to me (especially when speed is called for). Keep working on strumming, and you’ll soo realize your dream.

Plunker or plunderer, I’d be happy – LOL

@Loraine ,I also find strumming difficult. There are a lot of courses on the site and I’m going to take advantage of them. I’ll keep working at it. Thanks

Where is that course from? I don’t see it on the TAC skills course.

I think it was helpful in explaining the timing of strums. I just need a lot of practice yet.

Great win! I actually enjoy strumming since I ‘m usually by myself, I need to learn how to combine picking and strumming so they blend together

Thanks @johnny67 I have a couple of songs that I’m trying to strum properly. I just have a hard time with it. I don’t think it sounds right anyway. My 2 strum songs right now are Wagon Wheel and I Walk the Line. Should be 2 songs that I can get the hang of.

Great win, Cadgirl. Keep working on strumming.

Sounds like maybe something I should be doing at my stage of learning rather than the Daily Challenges. Most of them are fun, while others are frustrating. I do feel like I’m learning things from them, but probably more basic things should be on the agenda after only 3 1/2 months.

Thanks @Rando , the challenges are good but take advantage of the numerous courses that Tony has.

    Hi Cadgirl,

    Congrats!

The 10 Essential Strumming Patterns is a great course.

It was helpful to me too.

Usually, I finger pick and have been neglecting strumming practice, lately.

Your post is reminding me that to revisit the course as I could use a refresher.

    Thank you 😀

Thanks @Cherie , I did like the course. Very basic but still helps. I think I hold back on strumming because its so much louder. If you hit the strings wrong in a strum it super loud mistake (THanGGGGG…..) whereas if I make a mistake picking, it’s not as noticeable (ping).

        Hi, Cadgirl,

Oh, yes, pick strumming can be loud! 🙂

        I also love fingerpicking.

If pick strumming is louder than I’m feeling, I switch to strumming with my fingers. Actually, I usually play with my fingers only, as the room I’m playing in is not huge and a light sound carries just fine for me.

        Happy playing,

        Cherie

I have made a list of songs that I want to play without sheet music. I want a few strummed songs in the mix. Right now I’m working on Johnny Cash’s I walk the line. A little strumming, a little picking. So far so good.
