First time EVER
Posted by the-old-coach on September 1, 2023 at 10:00 amThis is an original song that I’ve been working on for a couple of months. It’s called “I’m Still Here”.
It’s the first time I have EVER played or posted any of my original songs for anyone else.
Please remember it is still a “work in progress”.
Hope you enjoy it.

Thank you, xiao-bai and Fletch, for your nice comments. It needs more work, but I hope to be able to make improvements to it and also record it using better equipment than my 11-year-old, beat-up, laptop. And maybe a real camera!
Thank you again!

I think you are on to something most excellent. How do I know this? I want to play it with you.

Your song has genuine depth and the chord progression is appropriately minor. I share many of your sentiments. I relate. Songwriting is an exercise in bravery. Good job.

Thank you both Jeff and Albert for your responses!
(as two who I look up to tremendously)- your responses mean a LOT.
I’ve got many more song ideas in my head, and in my heart, and in my past. And they want out.
Thanks again…… mark

Thank you for sharing – this really touched me. Very good!

@the-old-coach 👏👏👏 That was some really good stuff right there! What chords are you playing? Sounded like a lot of minor 7 chords with some cool bass walk downs. I ask because like @jumpinjeff , I want to play along also – maybe come up with some improv for your “chorus”. Anyways, GREAT WORK my friend 🤩. See you in a few weeks on the other channel 🎸

Nicky and Bill–
Thank you for your nice comments! I’m still learning all this stuff, have a long way to go, and am having a tough time with some new audio stuff and the process that comes with that….
Bill– in answer to your question- (what chords?)- well, a lot of them are just basic open chords, but there are some odd ones in there also. I’ll have to think about that and use some knowledge gained to “reverse-engineer” them note-by-note to be able to give them an actual chord name.
I’d like to say I knew what I was doing— but when I was working thru the song’s chord progressions, I wasn’t paying attention at all to what was actually “in” those odd chords. I just found the root I wanted, and monkeyed around with strings and frets till I found combinations that sounded the way I wanted in that chord….. in that moment. I figured I could actually “name” them later. Well, I still haven’t.
Thank you again for listening and commenting…..
