For the Fretboard “Wizards” out there…
I am repeating FW, and apparently I have forgotten most of what I learned the first time. But it’s not the concept I’m having trouble with; that is fairly intuitive to my analytical brain.
I’m in week 4: Soloing, Day 2. I get the chord tones and all that, but I cannot play them to the backing track. Each time there is a chord change I go to the next set of chord tones, but it’s wrong, it doesn’t match. So, maybe I’m slow? Maybe I mis-picked a string? So I’m going at half speed to make sure my timing matches, and yes I’m keeping track of that quarter note rest at the end of each measure.
Tony says it is like the Wednesday soloing challenges, but no it is not. I can do those. What are we supposed to be doing with these notes? I have no idea how this exercise is supposed to work.

Caveat: I’m not responding as an expert but as a learner or interpreter. I went to FBW and revisited that lesson. It worked for me using the C shaped CAGED pattern. Tony is playing a C Dm G(7 but I just say G ish) progression. So I play a C skip E skip G set of notes. Then a D skip F skip A set of notes. Then a G skip B skip D set of notes.
Now the scale shows how to do the same process for all the other notes in the C major scale, but that is for your back pocket learning and doesn’t go with the demonstrated chord progression.
At least that is my hypothesis and I hope it helps.

Thanks, Albert, I think that makes more sense than trying to guess the instructions on my own, based on my own limited knowledge. I will try that after I do today’s regular challenge.
