  • Getting Back to the Guitar

Posted by Rosindyj on June 1, 2023 at 8:01 pm

I have been ill for 3 weeks and unable to keep up with the weekly routine. My hospital stay was almost 2 weeks. However, I’m now home and reading to play again. Where do I enter the lessons? Do I continue where I left off, or got to the new week and backtrack to previous lessons. After 75 straight weeks, it feel strange to be out of sink. Thanks, Jeff

I would enjoy all of the different options available to you. I have often gone to the 30 days option and started fresh on the current week. It is all a win, no matter how you do it. Congratulation on your recovery, and I hope you will soon be back to 100% in short order.

@Rosenjs2002@gmail.com I am so sorry you’ve been so ill and had such a rough go at it. Take your time getting reacquainted and ease back into practice. Remember the golden trike of a minimum of 10 minutes per day, and you will progress.

I agree with Howar, there is no harm revisiting the 30 days to play, although not required. You can begin the dailies anytime/any day, but if you find it easier, just start fresh on Monday. Not only is it a new week, but it’s the beginning of June lessons. When you’re ready to tackle more, ease your way into some Skills courses. There’s no curriculum for them. It’s whatever your interested in. I began with the Jumpstart into Fingerpicking and flatpicking courses and the Strumming course.

Remember to have some fun with it, and the guitar is a patient instrument and will be there for whatever you decide to tackle.

I appreciate the advice. I spent this month building my momentum slowly. I’ve actually started using the Guitar Journal. It appears to be helping.

3 weeks won’t slow you down that much. You will recover in no time at all. Just jump back in where you wish and the old muscle memory will wake up In May Tony has been taking a revised song building approach and if that continues in June you will want to stay abreast of the Daily Challenges.

I am so appreciative of these recommendations. At times I forget how flexible the Challenge is. I can combine these recommendations and be thankful I can get back to my guitar. Best wishes to all. Jeff

So glad to hear you are doing better. Just jump in where you feel comfortable, and get going again. You’ll be on track in no time.
