It’s a sad day for me and Canadian folk music fans, with the passing of Gordon Lightfoot a legend of songwriting and guitar playing.

This is a very sad day. I was introduced to Gordon Lighfoot by chance when a friend asked me if I wanted to go to a folk concert in Waterloo Ontario in the mid 1960’s. I was learning to play the guitar at the time and I was hooked. Learning to play most of his early songs and being able to sing them all, I was known as “Waterloo Collegiate’s own Lightfoot” until 1970. I will be remonissing by playing his songs. This Canadian Icon will be missed.

He was definitely a great lyricist, amd his compositions were simple but complicated at the same time. Good stuff.

I was hoping to get to see him, but missed him a few times.
