  • ha ha….gargling is a win????

Posted by Mrfredsporty on August 13, 2022 at 4:59 am

Since most of my 5 songs require me attempting to sing Ive run into an odd problem. That is, my sinuses are draining almost all the time in the morning here in Florida. As a consequence I find that even my attempted singing often ends up in very frustrating croaking. sooooo, I tried a nasal spray . Stung a little but it helped. BUT(!) there are numerous horror stories of people getting hooked on them. Im trying not to use the spray very often. Finally, in desperation I tried the old wives (or significant others) tale of gargling with warm salt water. Eegads, it seems to work. Now instead of croaking like a frog and getting questioning looks from my 2 cats, Im able to scare them with my full bodied semi screeching. A win indeed!

Home remedies can be great! Try whiskey, lemon juice and honey for a cough. (I used to live in KY)

Old saying– (from my “old days”)-

“You can’t drink all day unless you start in the morning”

THAT is a brilliant statement, right(?)

Good for you @Mrfredsporty ! I have had chronic sinus drainage for… well… a long time. A salt water rinse and gargle is the way to go for sure. 🙂

Hey @Mrfredsporty , I haven’t had problems with my sinuses most of my adult life as I lived out west since 21. But 4 years ago, I moved back to the east coast and here in N. Carolina, it seems everyone has sinus problems year round. So I have had the exact same experience and come to the same solution of gargling when necessary.

For me, since I never had severe sinus problems, if I do sing every day that seems to keep the sinus affected voice at bay. But I still use the gargle when necessary. 😎
