Hey TAC Family!!! Here is how I TAC..

1.) How many days per week do you play?

In the routine I play everyday. On busier days (which does not happen too often), I at least do 10 min. warmup.

2.) What time of day do you play?

I start to play late in the morning from 11am to 3pm.

    3.) Where do you play?

I sit and play guitar in my bedroom. I have placed my table right next to the window. Between my guitar practice, I enjoy daydreaming about composing a melody while staring at the prairie sky.

4.) What was your guitar life like before having a guitar routine & how has implementing a consistent guitar routine helped you? (if possible, name 3 ways).

In the year 2014, I was involved with a motorcycle accident which resulted in the loss in flexibility of my fretting hand. This accident had a huge impact on my playing ability, skills, and confidence. I struggled with holding the guitar. I could not hold the guitar the way I used to, holding bar chords became nightmare. With only few chords that I could play; I felt stuck, frustrated and eventually I stopped playing. I played guitar rarely between the years 2014 to 2020. When pandemic hit, I started to play a little, but it was not enough to call it as a progress. I still struggled with my fretting hand. In December 2020 I stumbled across Tony’s acoustic challenge through one of his YouTube videos. After watching some of his videos I felt somewhat positive about his program. I decided to give it a try and I became a member on December 30th, 2020. In my journey, my first month was filled with irregular routine. I did not complete challenges for my first month. From 2nd month onwards I started to get a hang of it and started to practice regularly. As suggested by Tony, I have built my own habit of playing guitar by linking it with my morning cup of coffee.

–Implementing a regular routine has helped me in overcoming the flexibility loss in my fretting hand. I now can hold and play the guitar the proper way (as mentioned by Tony in his beginner guitar lesson). Although, limitations in playing because of injury has not disappeared completely but with regular practice, I am now certain that these effects will disappear.

    – I always dreamed about fingerpicking. Because of regular practice and following lessons from Tony, I now can fingerpick with ease. Thank you, Tony!

    – Because of regular practice and implementing routine, it has now become less often that I feel discouraged, and down about my guitar playing. Instead, I now often feel positive and hopeful about my guitar playing and progress.

5.) Bonus Question: What is one non-guitar item that is a must have in your guitar routine?

Coffee and a closed door (so that I can focus more and get in my own guitar playing zone)

Thank you Tony and all the TAC members!
