How I TAC – 4/28/21
How many days do you play?
I play five to seven days a week (provided I have a guitar available) but have committed to practicing a minimum of 20 minutes, 4 days a week.
<b style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit;”>What time of the day do you play?
After supper, typically between 8-9 p.m.
Where do you play?
I play in my home office. This allows me to close the door so I don’t plague my wife with myself and have some privacy when I’m struggling with a new challenge (e.g. “Backwards Roll starting at 160 bpm 😖)
What was your guitar life like before having a guitar routine & how has implementing a consistent guitar routine helped you? (if possible name 3 ways).
Prior to joining TAC, I spent much of the past 10 years or more noodling while watching TV, possibly downloading a song off YouTube that caught my ear, only to forget most of it, 3 weeks later.
A consistent guitar routine has:
1) Improved the coordination between my right and left hands.
2) Given me a structure to my practice day after day and week after week.
3) Improved my left-hand strength. This has benefited the tone of my barre chords and the length of time I’m able to practice and play.
What is one non-guitar item that is a must-have in your guitar routine?
A second computer monitor. The second monitor allows me to watch a video on one screen and have the tab on the second screen.
Alternatively, I split the screen on my laptop. This works but the eyes ain’t what they used to be.
