How I TAC
Hey TAC Family!!!
Here’s my routine
1.) How many days per week do you play?
I’ve committed myself to 7 days per week.
2.) What time of day do you play?
i play multiple times per day. I’m working from home during COVID and keep my guitar in my workspace. I pick it up multiple times day to take a break from work. For the 90 day goal period I also wanting to add 1 consistent practice time Monday through Friday at 12:30 – 1pm – which is right after I eat lunch.
3.) Where do you play?
I play in my home office. It’s on the 2nd floor of my home and has a window that looks out into the back yard.
4.) What was your guitar life like before having a guitar routine & how has implementing a consistent guitar routine helped you? (if possible name 3 ways).
First of all – I bought a decent guitar in January. The guitar in my attic was from the 60s. It had a bowed neck that was separating from the body and the action was very high and difficult to play. It did not have an adjustable truss rod and the frets on the low E string were out of tune, which drove me nuts. So, getting a guitar that was easier to play in tune and sounded good to my ear (Orangewood Austin) made a big difference in the consistency of my routine. I wanted to play.
Before joining TAC my practice was all over the place. I learned the Ukulele as a kid and transferred those skills to the guitar, but was playing whatever I found on youtube. The TAC routing has given me an organized set of skills that build on each other over time, so I see improvement all the time.
This is really the difference between a daily workout, and a program. A program is a planned sequence of exercises designed to improve your skill over time by progressing your skills through a variety of means. A workout is simply doing some random exercises that keep you moving but not progressing.
That’s still my biggest issue; having too much information (workouts) and not enough programs – so TAC has brought me a program and the routine brings me consistency.
<div>I want to be able to express my soul through the guitar the same way I can now on the piano or singing. I’m impatient for the skills to develop.</div><div>

5.) Bonus Question: What is one non-guitar item that is a must have in your guitar routine?
It isn’t a thing – it’s a color. For me, it’s the color YELLOW. Yellow brings me light and learning and peace. Yellow is my learning space.
