1.) How many days per week do you play?

I play everyday, but I practice with structure on the weekdays. Frankly I cherish the feeling on Saturday of knowing I am not going to take a lesson and that makes me even enjoy the weekday routine more.

2.) What time of day do you play?

Around 11-Midninght or so…. I turn off the TV or put down the phone or crossword and start my guitar routine.

    3.) Where do you play?

I play in our living room. Since it is late and my wife is long off to bed there are few distractions so it works well for me. As an added bonus I can pick up the guitar at random times, and it is especially rewarding to pick up the guitar when I am waiting on others to go somehwhere!

4.) What was your guitar life like before having a guitar routine & how has implementing a consistent guitar routine helped you? (if possible name 3 ways).
A few years ago I started taking classical lessons and that was quite productive (although it did not seem like it at the time) I only took them for 6 months (we partially moved due to grandkids!) and 2-3 years later I had only advanced maybe a few pages in the Noad Solo guitar book. As many of you have expressed I too would proceed with little direction, exploring all kinds of haphazard online offerings…until this last November, I enrolled in TAC, and my whole routine changed.

    A. Every weekday I have a small win by sounding out a random song and writing the notes down. I find I am getting better and faster at it and now am exploring incorporating more than one note and sometimes chords…which also gets me into scratching the surface of some music theory.

    B. I follow that with practicing and advancing (slowly) through the Noad exercises. This may or may not result in a small win…depending on the night. Sometimes it clicks, sometimes it doesn’t.

    C. Finally I log in and get into the lesson. Some of them are really hard and I have a the timing and speed are tough for me. The progress has been very slow, but i can see that in years to come I will slowly improve. Exploring the 5 different aspects each week has given me a glimpse into new parts of the music universe.

    D. I read most of the comments…what a cheerful and helpful crowd and reading about bird watching in England is an added bonus to end the night on a positive note.

5.) Bonus Question: What is one non-guitar item that is a must have in your guitar routine?

My dog hanging out with me…she usually crashes on her back and quietly snores…
