How I TAC
Hey TAC’ers
Here is how my routine has come together over the past few months since joining,
1.) How many days per week do you play?
I’ve committed to 5 days per week (Monday through Friday).
2.) What time of day do you play?
I started trying for the mornings before the work day starts, but that didn’t work out so I’ve found a setup in the dining room works well for a lunch time session which has allowed me to remain super consistent. Having the guitar on hand at the table also translates into a bonus session after dinner most nights.
3.) Where do you play?
I have two places where I play, the office, where most of the instruments live, and also by the dining room table, which inspires me to play whenever I sit down to a meal.
4.) What was your guitar life like before having a guitar routine & how has implementing a consistent guitar routine helped you? (if possible name 3 ways).
Before I had a routine I would often go for months between playing. I had not progressed in years, and felt like a beginner whenever I picked up the guitar.
– Short regular sessions have kept the momentum building.
– The targeted sessions mean I know what skills I will be working on.
– The feeling I am growing with each session has kept guitar fun.
5.) Bonus Question: What is one non-guitar item that is a must have in your guitar routine?
An audience, even if it’s just the dog, helps me appreciate how I am progressing.
Cheers,
David S.
