1.) How many days per week do you play?

I try to play every day. It isn’t always possible, but that is my goal. My goal is to at least get to the TAC lesson on the days they are released, occasionally I will have to do 2 on the same day or push one to the weekend. Even if I don’t get to the daily lesson it is very likely that I did play earlier in the day.

2.) What time of day do you play?

I work at different times on different days of the week, so I don’t have a set time that I play. I do try and keep a normal routine for the lessons, I do them approximately an hour before I go to bed. They sometimes pushed my bedtime back, especially the Wednesday Improv session. It is totally worth it.

    3.) Where do you play?

I prefer to do my lessons in the upstairs living room. The couch is comfortable and it has the best spot to set my iPad up for the lesson.

4.) What was your guitar life like before having a guitar routine & how has implementing a consistent guitar routine helped you?

I didn’t have a routine. At least not for some 25 years. I would have my guitars out and would pick them up and play the same one or two things I know and then set them down and walk away. Having a routine has done several things. It is a part of my schedule, so I don’t go weeks without playing. The consistency of playing has really increased my skills. I am now seeking out new things to learn and I love making up my own melodies. It also is my meditation time and really calms me down before bed…unless I have an inspired moment and can’t put my guitar down.

5.) Bonus Question: What is one non-guitar item that is a must have in your guitar routine?

I usually have a glass of soda handy and my phone for recording.
