How I TAC
1) How many days a week do you practice?
RN, I practice everyday unless life throws a wrench. So, I wake up and start my morning w/ Tony, a cup of coffee and a Challenge or skill for the day. Not too many or I master 0. But if my morning goes awhack, I still have the whole day to make time to practice. This is not a chore yet, as I am still learning so much good stuff that I can’t put TAC down! The music theory is dynamite!!
2) What time of day do you play?
Usually this is first thing in the AM…and several times as able throughout the day. But my dedicated time is first thing in the morning before my work day takes over and forces me to steal longing glances at the guitar throughout the day.
3) Where do you play?
Anywhere. I primarily play in the Living room or my office, but have played in the basement, patio, igloo, deck, and almost every vacant room in the house. I’m a junkie rn, so I’ll practice anywhere.
4) What was your guitar life like before having a guitar routine & how has implementing a consistent guitar routine helped you? (if possible name 3 ways). I had no routine. I had no commitment to play, and guitar wasn’t even a distant dream. It wasn’t a dream at all, though I’ve always had notion to play. My problem was I could never see the path to success until TAC. A consistent routine was a major key, as was an executable path to achieve the success I want. The promo pitch was spot on for me…I don’t want to dabble. I want to PLAY GUITAR. Be a guitar player. So,
1. It’s mindset…it is achievable to the level YOU (I) want.
2. It’s methodology – TAC helps you fill in the gaps or learn it all. I don’t need the master course or the 101 and TAC helps me build upon my skills from exactly where I am today!
3. The lessons…I never miss a day of practice, but I do miss my TAC exercises sometimes. And they are critical (no kidding, right?), because I learn something from every video. So that’s an important and FUN piece of this whole thing. I love hearing Tony play the licks first…then picking myself up from the “holy cow, I gotta play that??” floor, and finishing the exercise with a cramped up, spaghetti fret hand…then advancing to playing it with some speed a week or so later. It makes me darn proud of the decision to buy into Tony’s hype and I remain inspired to execute. We CAN DO THIS! It’s awesome.
Finally, feeling success and having fun is #4 (but really #1)…routine builds skill, skill builds success and success feels really GOOD. Feeling good about my progress and having fun are the super ingredients, IMO.
5.) Bonus Question: What is one non-guitar item that is a must have in your guitar routine? Coffee, yes!! But the Musical Alphabet “Master Grid” is something I always keep with me…(see pic)
