I’m playing! It’s working!
I did Tony’s Acoustic Challenge some years ago and drifted away. I’m a bass player and am transitioning to playing cello in an acoustic guitar based quartet. Last November I rejoined Tony’s Acoustic Challenge and this time I’ve gotten into playing regularly and for my own enjoyment. I’m still fundamentally a bassist/cellist, but I’ve found that many of the things I’m learning here, in particular the Fretboard Wizard lessons, can be transferred to the bass and cello. This week’s TAC daily lessons on Mississippi Hill Country Blues, has somehow lit a fire in me. The droning bass with simple melody accompaniment is thrilling and has definitely turned practice into playing. Each morning I’ve stayed with the video and learned to play along. Each afternoon I go back to playing along with the video and then in the evening I’ve jammed out on my own. What a blast! One of these days I’m going to put down my cello at band practice and pick up a guitar and my band mates are going to be in for a surprise.
