  • Just be You, and Have Fun

This quote was on my Facebook page, “I don’t play music because I think I’m great at it. I play because I think music is great, and I want to be a part of it.” Another is that I’ve shared in the past is, “Music is Life, and That is Why Our Hearts Have Beats.” The real reason that I love music and playing guitar is that I feel whole when I’m playing music. I have always felt that music helped me express my feelings and thoughts

I was a very shy child and we moved a lot so I never built up friendships or relationships and I spent a lot of time with a radio and music.

Tony teaches us to have fun with our playing. Enjoy what we do and we will grow and become better players. I know I’m not great, and I may never be really good, but I’ve come far from never having played before I started TAC. I’m happy when I’m playing, and I have fun, and that is all that matters. Don’t listen to others.

I grow and progress through lessons, practice, and through pushing the barriers a little and choosing songs that are challenging, and often times my song style and lyric version is just that —– my version; my interpretation, and that is okay. There’s is nothing written that says you have to do exact and perfect covers. Sometimes other versions sound better or just as good as the original, but in a different way.

So, be yourself, don’t be afraid to not be perfect, simply have fun, and keep doing your best and don’t worry about what the rest think. It’s not worth the effort to have to be around those types. Hang with the winners, and ay to your

All of the above is so very true. I always try to keep it in mind that it’s the journey not the destination that is the important thing. Keep on keeping on with your journey. Enjoyment is the only requirement. Thanks for all your input here, it’s much appreciated.

Thanks @terry-w-m-36 . It’s a difficult lesson to learn to let go of perfectionism and caring so much what others think. I’m just so happy I realize I have choices today.

And the last sentence that was cut off was, and stay true to yourself.

You know, Loraine— Your original post here is PERFECT.

You have always had a soft- (yet solid), encouraging, way of thinking and expressing in your posts. I love reading them- and I enjoy how they are always– always– of a helpful nature to others. Keep doin’ exactly what you’re doin’. We need your “little nudges” of encouragement to get back in the game from time to time.

@the-old-coach You always say such kind things. Thank you. Your comments encourage me too. I simply pass on what was so freely given to me when I first joined TAC. I was taken under the wings of a few really great souls who really cared about me as a person and have become good friends, and helped me on my journey involving the guitar and my personal life..

And don’t forget this……….. You are not only always helpful and encouraging……… You are TOUGH— (and that is an equally admirable trait).

Are you a Tom Petty fan?— Listen (again, I’m sure) to one of my old favorites— “I Won’t Back Down”.

@SoCal_Ian Ian, I hadn’t been on the site in a while myself – Life has a way of interfering with our best intentions sometimes. I’m hoping to be more present moving forward. socal_

I really appreciate your comments, and yes – I can see your smile (I think … I’ve never really seen it, only put a face to voice and torso with a guitar. I’ve probably got it all wrong, but I like to think I know you and we’re friends. You actually made me wmile with your comment.

Btw, if you get a chance to, look up a poem “Hey God, Hey John” by John Roedel johnroedel.com. Someone just introduced me to this poem, and it basically is something that totally resonated with me and was perfect for reminding me that we are all just where we’re supposed to be and shedding or changing is a normal part of becoming who we are meant to be, so trust the process.

Miss you, but unfortunately I outgrew my relationship with the other site. That’s not to say I won’t revisit it in the future. I’m taking it a day at a time.
