I don’t feel like I am on an island anymore. All the books and tools I have purchased the last 4 months were mind numbing. I was the guy who took 4 months of lessons at $150 per month and I still can’t play the songs I wanted to learn. I learned more in 30 minutes tonight about posture, tuning, fretting, and using the pick than I did in 4 months. Thanks. I can’t wait to continue tomorrow night.

Welcome to the TAC fam! I hear sentiments like yours often, which doesn’t say much for in person guitar lessons, books and other sites. I learned to play guitar here, so it’s definitely worth it. I will say to not completely shut the door on one on one lessons, just maybe wait a while to get some of the foundational skills down that you’ll learn here. I supplemented TAC with private lessons after a year, and if you find the right teacher they won’t be offended or threatened by you continuing lessons here, and they will actually work with you towards complimentary goals. My guitar teacher said I was more advanced at a year than most of his 3+ year students. He also listened to me and worked towards my goals and not his own goals.

Keep in mind that playing guitar is not the easiest instrument to learn. Don’t get too discouraged if you’re not playing a lot of songs for a while. It takes time and practice.
