    My daily small win includes

Sounding out, noting a melody, and listing it on this forum as a record. I look forward to my 100th entry in about 2 1/2 months.

Today I went back to middle school and sounded a tune from Gilbert & Sullivan’s Mikado. It was quite easy!

I get a sense of euphoria when I know I got all the notes right….kind of like that feeling of 5 green letters lining up.

    Then onto the daily challenge!

@Brian2501 I really enjoy hearing about your wins in sounding out different songs. Great skill to have.

Nice job, @Brian2501! Sounding things out is a skill that I need to develop!

      Hi Ted

I have been doing this for I think about 8 months before each lesson and it is coming much easier and faster now. I figure by the end of the year I will really get it…but then the next hard part comes…integrating the single notes with chords to be able to play a tune that sounds good instrumentally…It’s going to be a long journey!

Today’s song … Father and Son by Cat Stevens..never realized that the fathers part and the son’s response are pretty much identical melodies…I always thought they would be different.

Tonight I found the notes for “Afternoon Delight” … a hit during the bicentennial summer of ’76.

Written by the same folks who wrote Country Roads.
