Tony’s Acoustic Challenge – The New Way to Learn Guitar Family Forums Small Wins Larrivee OM-03 Bhilwara Arrived Today…

  • Larrivee OM-03 Bhilwara Arrived Today…

YESSSS GET In THERE, after Acoustic Tuesday last week when Tony mentioned the Larrivee L-OR3 and gave us a short sound preview off it, I started looking for where to get one from and struggled to find a new or second hand one. Google showed me Peach Guitars in Colchester, Essex, in the UK. They never had an L-OR3 on they’re website but they did have an OM-03 Bhilwara so I called them yesterday morning, had a great chat and ordered a new Larrivee OM-03 Bhilwara and 27 hours later, I’m being sooooo geeky and honestly… I’m still smelling it and plucking the strings very slowly, it smells and sounds absolutely incredible. The question is seriously, do I play this work of pure beauty or just stare, smell and touch it.

It has a Sika spruce top, a brand of Indian Rosewood back and sides, Maple binding, Ebony finger board and a 1 3/4” nut width

But seriously, I’ve tuned it up and now I’m going to run some finger exercises and stretches through it to start bedding it in slowly (speaking of bed, guess who or rather what i’m sleeping with tonight 🤣) And then in half an hour the Daily Challenge will be calling me with absolute pleasure. Tony I can understand now why you were so in ore of this pure beauty, I know its not the model, but it actually sounds so much better and smoother sounding than when I watched a video of it on Peaches website, the tone is exactly what I wanted and now I have it… yep it’s all mine

PS I’m posting this again from 5 minutes ago, as the photo didn’t upload. I tried uploading it again and everything disappeared, but it seems that my uncontrollable enthusiasm has returned

I was looking up the Larivee guitars after Tony’s Tuesday broadcast myself. Yours looks great, I’m sure you are happy with it. Just make sure it’s in a safe place it doesn’t get knocked over or something. Again congratulations on your new guitar.

Well I’ve washed my hands twice since picking it up 😂, don’t worry I won’t be wearing latex gloves to keep the finger prints away, however I did get a bottle of Ernie Ball instrument polish and a cloth as well as a Music Nomad humidify and temperature monitor. I never bothered with my Tanglewood but that was only £204.00 14 years ago. I was thinking of storing it on the ceiling between Daily Challenges so it doesn’t get damaged, it’s a nightmare isn’t it

Thanks @stevieblues I’ve been playing tonight for a couple of hours now and it seems that for a change, the only buzzing is me 😆

Because we grow over the years with our guitars, we don’t notice that they need attention like sitting up do we, we just tune the strings sometimes and thats it. The lovely sound of this new guitar has made me realise that I need to let a Luthier set it up from time to time.

👍 Hey @albert_d I bought a hygrometer for it as well, but I keep checking the readings, which is basically the idea, but I guess I will be a complete guitar geek that no one can help if I find myself getting up in the middle of the night and opening the case to check if the readings are ok… Am I a sado or what 🤣

Hi there. Congratulations – that is going to be an awesome new friend for your guitar journey. Coincidentally Peach is my local guitar store (I lived in Colchester and went to school there) and since joining TAC I have bought both of the guitars I’m currently playing from them, a wonderful Yamaha ACR3 (Rosewood back and sides, Sitka Spruce top) and just two weeks ago a Paul Reed Smith SE Standard electric – both in tabacco sunburst. They are both a dream – you can see them in my last Play For Us forum upload although obviously the PRS is on a stand in the background!

I hope you enjoy the Larrivee. They have a great team at Peach and you can pick up some real bargain quality guitars from them. If I had deeper pockets I’d have about 20 guitars by now. Keep on rockin’ 🤘😎🎸

WOW @Moonhare I’ve just been watching and listening to your video and it really is amazing how well you’re doing, well done and I can’t wait to have something acomplished that I can post, but it won’t be long 👍 and BTW love both your guitars and yes Peach Guitars do go the extra mile don’t they lioke throwing in a couple of packs of d’addario strings at £17 a pack, but I guess after spending £2,399 on a guitar with hard case, what else would you expect 😳

Yes – I think a couple of sets of strings is fair enough when you’ve spent that much! (Mine were slightly cheaper than that). Have fun with your new baby and I look forward to hearing more from you.

Congratulations – that is a beauty!

My first 2 guitars were Larrivees, first a 1997 parlor and then a 2005 L-05E. They both continue to sound amazing

Such a shame their name isn’t that well known. I’d never heard of them until Tony mentioned them a couple of weeks a got on Acoustic Tuesday

@OhWowMan playing this beauty is absolute heaven and with a hygrometer in the room and one in the case, as well as a humidifier in the sound hole if the RH gets a bit low, I’m making sure I’m treating her like gold dust 😃
