  • Live gig summary!

Posted by TMutter on April 24, 2023 at 9:58 pm

This is a snapshot of my first live gig in 2023 and had the gift of singing with my daughter Natalie. It was a little windy and rainy but there was a tent and we were pretty cozy – and got invited back ! Lesson learned…. no open containers by the equipment! Someone bought me a beer and a promptly knocked it over on to my pedal board taking it out of commission and also splashed on to my Martin D-41 . All is well but had to make some adjustments on the fly at the time. We have another show booked next month more coming! So much fun!

Ok. So it was all good but my favorite was the rowdy Quarterdeck. Playing with your daughter… how good does it get!

Thanks Albert ! Yes I wrote that song 4 days before the gig and the crowd really got into it!

Thanks @stevieblues – We have another gig scheduled for May 24th and are in the process of getting back on the schedule for the Quarterdeck.

Loved this @TMutter . Have you posted the full song on the Quarterdeck? What’d the venue think of the song? How’d the rain affect your guitar? Was it difficult to keep tuned? It would’ve played havoc on my sinuses and vocals, but you both sounded great. Your daughter has a beautiful voice.

@Loraine hmmm reposting reply – first effort did not seem to go through. There was just a little mist of rain but we are used to that in the Northwest ! The tent holds about 30 people and there were another 30 outside. There is a heater in the tent that blows occasionally and it is right by the performers which is a little distracting. I kept my guitar away from the blower and I did have to tune frequently over the 2 hour set but I do that anyway with capo moves and a few songs in drop D. I have heard there is a full recording of the Quarterdeck song and I will try to get a copy of it. I wrote it for Mckenzie who is the woman who purchased the place a few months ago. I think she liked it since she said she wants us to come back. Singing with Natalie is a real treat for me. We were both pretty nervous and it is great to not be all alone up there !
