  • Making Up Missed Lessons

Posted by Tom000-18 on April 21, 2021 at 12:45 pm

Aloha! Luck me I was gone to Hawaii for a couple weeks and when I got back I went back to the daily challenges I missed, while engaging in the current weeks lessons. I don’t spend as much time on the makeup lessons (mostly on weekends) but I try to understand the lessons and practice/play them at a level that I can be pretty accurate but maybe not full speed. The goal is to at least get exposure to the lessons. I will also mention that am retired and have time to play a lot.

My question is do other TAC members to the same? or should I just focus on current weeks challenges and let the missed lessons go. Guidance from TAC support would be appreciated too!

    Enjoy your strumming today!

    Tom

Certainly not an official answer, just my opinion – I think you could do either. I got back last week from a week in Death Valley. So, on Monday I did the 4/12 and the 4/5 lessons, Tuesday I did the 4/13 and 4/6 lessons, same for Wednesday. Then Thursday and Friday I got busy, so Monday I did the 4/19 and the two Thursdays I missed and yesterday I did the 4/20 and the two Fridays I missed – all caught up. So, yes, I like to go back and catch up. You could also just let it slide and catch them next time around, since they do come around again. I think it is a user’s preference. And yes, I am retired too which makes it easier to do this.

Hello NorCal_Nolan, glad you could relate and your perspective helpful. I don’t think it is black and white and dependent on what is is going on: user preference.

I will try and balance my efforts out.

Death Valley must have been amazing (probably lots of wildflowers). I live in Marin and appreciate NorCal :)!

Hey @Tom000-18 , I understand the motive why one would want to go back and “catch up” I had that mindset myself at one time. I have been able to telescope out a little more and now my mindset is to put everything I have into the task at hand, there will be another lesson tomorrow. Any energy I would have spent “catching up” I have realized is better spent doing the thing in front of me with all I can give it. So I guess that put me kinda in the @NorCal_Nolan camp, as I have done both. For me, what I do now works better.

Hello Jumpin’ Jeff, your points are well taken. I have a tendency to go too broad on my practice focus. So I will try try and heed your wisdom.

      Thanks You,

      Tom

thanks! that helps to hear. Seems like the sequence of lessons is not dependent on the previous lesson, sometimes they are, but not necessarily.

I love Tony’s weekly themes on stories and of course the music. Very fun!
