  • My new set up for playing guitar.

Posted by outdoorgator on August 21, 2023 at 6:36 pm

My first date is scheduled now for my first open mic! 😃

So I’m changing the way I play in my office. I’m setting it up just like I would for open mic 🎤

Just like training for a marathon. I don’t want to try new shoes on race day! 😳 😁😀

@outdoorgator great set up – very smart. “Practicing performing” is a whole new set of skills and discipline – relaxing, playing in the set up you will be using in front of the audience and for me the most important thing had 2 parts:

    1) playing through mistakes

    2) not making a face or saying something when I made a mistake.

Most of the time the audience will not even pick up the mistake.

    Enjoy your open mic!

Playing through a mistake without making a face is the hardest part. So I’m setting up my camara for a playback review. 🙂

      Thanks for the advice!

You are pushing yourself to reach new places with your guitar journey, @outdoorgator , and that’s great. You are preparing yourself for the new situation, and that’s even better. That’s why you will succeed.

I have been more stubborn than this. I want to reach for new areas, but I don’t want to prepare. I need to learn from your willingness to grow and improve. I’ve been to a number of live open mics, but still haven’t set up a practice area where I can stand up. I’m gonna make that a goal. Thanks for showing us your routine.
