    This was an awkward song. It has two distinct parts that don’t sound like the same song. In the first part it starts out quickly, changes pace and style, goes back to the quick pace, and back and forth several times. It switches from the high strings to the low also, sounding a little weird to me. Even when I listen to Tony play it in the lesson it sounds like a collection of riffs strung together rather than a song (though his playing and transitions make it work). I didn’t alter the speed as much as he did between sections as my transitions were not as smooth anyway of course. The second section slows down and gets softer (some parts softer than others). It was like shifting to a new song. This song uses hammer ons, pull offs, slides, and other finger picking technique; so it was good to learn to work on those skills. You will see mistakes. It is what it is at this point; and I am taking a break from it.

    Great job @Philb ! Your pinch and finger style picking was really good and your fretting was spot on. I really enjoyed watching and listening to you perform that piece! 😀

    @Cadgirl @Bill_Brown @Kitman @stevieblues
    Thank you all so much for taking time to listen and the kind and encouraging words. After listening again I was thinking I should have taken more time to get it down a little better before posting, but this is a guitar journey.

    If we waited till a song was perfect, it would never be uploaded! It took me a long time to get up the courage to upload a song into the internet, than post it on the ‘play for us’ site. You did a good job, don’t cut yourself short. Another thing to keep in mind is those mistakes that you hear when your playing….. your audience usually doesn’t hear at all. Good Job on Nine Pound Hammer. You said you got it off the old songbook, do you mean the old song vault that Tony had? I’ll check it out and see what is in there. Again , good job.

    Absolutely agree, @Cadgirl ! We all learn from each other regardless of our musical tastes, style and abilities. This is one of the most beneficial aspects of TAC! Play on @Philb ! 😃🎸

    @Cadgirl I agree. Yes, the song vault that Tony had. A lot of good stuff in there.

    @Skullknocker Thank you so much for taking a listen and your kind words.

    I especially like the second half where it shows your picking abilities. One thing I’m just beginning to work (have a LONG way to go) is palm muting which I think would fit in great with your rendition.

    @Mrfredsporty Thank you! That’s a good idea, to mix and match different techniques. I haven’t used palm muting much. Will have to work on that.

      Philb, I often feel that because of tac I’m trying this and that and,oh look, let me try this too, etc.I’m really appreciating acoustic blues more and more where palm muting is used a lot.
