  • Nylon string guitar comparisons

Had fun yesterday going to local guitars store within a 50 mile radius and picking a bunch of different nylon stringed guitars. Cordobas, Yamahas, Taylors, Takamines. Couldn’t find any of the Martins I wanted to try. had to have a 2″ nut width as MyTaylor my Tylor 712 Nylon has a 1 7/8″nut and it feels a little snug hen makeing 3 finger A’s, A minors, etc. My favorite, so far is the Cordoba C10 cutaway i found at Guitar center. They would not dicker with the price so I walked away and will keep searching for that special guitar that jumps out and bites me so i can’t put it down. You guitar junkies know what I’m talking about. The deal braker on some of the guitars was a smaller nut width. Nylon strings are much thicker than our steel string guitars and take up more finger room, in my opinion. That is what holds me back on some brands. Any Nylon string guitar ya’ll favor?

@jorgemac I like Cordoba for the wider neck. The necks are wider and more comfortable. I’m not very good at knotting the strings when replacing them, though.

Almost pulled the string on a Takamine 132 but the guy wanted $150 to ship it 300 miles, so shut the deal down. Nice 10 year old guitar with a 2″ nut. i’ll keep looking.

I purchased a Takamine Hybrid P3FCN about a month ago and do like it. It’s new so has to be broken in so I am trying to use it a few minutes every day. the nut is wide enough for my fat fingers and it does stay in tune day to Day to day . Also looked at a Furch 4nc-4 but will have to sell something to justify buying it. I has a wonderful tone, rosewood back and sides and 3A Cedar top. But it would probably be to nice to perform with. The good guitars can grow legs at gigs, and wander away. The Takamine is more of a an everyday gig style guitar. it has their cool PreAmp system for plugging in also.
