Old Dan Tucker
Posted by Philb on February 28, 2023 at 12:37 pmFrom about 1843 is the old Americana song that my mom used to sing around the house in the 50’s. I even accompanied myself on harmonica, which may have been a mistake. I can play it decently holding it, but in a bracket it didn’t quite go as I would have liked. I will just call it, get that old timey feel. LOL
Just 2 verses and the chorus; just for fun.

👏👏👏 @Philb , that was a great song, loved it🤩 Great guitar work and harmonica playing👍
I saw a TV show (on YT) with Neil Young playing guitar and harmonica together – it was one of those late-night shows circa 1993 (introduction of the Harvest Moon album). Anyways, after Neil was finished playing, the TV host asked Neil to join him and talk about his new album. The camera was still on while Neil was taking off his harmonica “bracket” and attached to the part of the bracket that goes around the neck was something like a hand towel sized piece of cloth that was inside his shirt. I imagine that it helped to anchor the bracket so that it wouldn’t move while he played – just a thought🤔

Thanks. I love the folk songs from the American expansion. We used to sing them in music class but my grandchildren no longer learn them in school. Failure to pass the history is a long term curriculum mistake I think.

@Kitman @Bill_Brown @albert_d
Thank you all for listening and the encouragement. It was a fun one to do.
That’s something I will have to try Bill. Thanks much!
I agree Albert!-
I found the video of Neil Young that I was talking about @Philb . It’s around the 6:20 mark where he takes off the bracket.

Oh, man… that was special, that was real. Can’t even blow into my harmonicas without the dogs going crazy! 😂

@stevieblues @Marisa
Thank you both for taking the time to listen, and your kind words.
Yes; the harmonica can have a harsh effect on canine ears. LOL
