When the fires of August 2023 struck Maui, I was struck with the need to say or do something to support and commemorate the area and those who died. I wrote this, and have continued to adjust it as new information has arrived. I hope you enjoy.

The image behind me is the eruption of Mauna Loa in 2023 as seen from Puiki, Hana, Maui. The cover plate is of Lahaina before the fires.

<div>I stayed in Laina last June. I know a lot of the landmarks like the banyan tree. Crazy to see those pictures.</div>

It will be very strange to return. Sounds like the tree has survived. Loss of the Court House and Front Street are a huge impact.

that’s a beautiful tribute song @AttyTJ to the Banyan tree and the people of Lahaina, Maui.

Really nicely written and composed @AttyTJ . The entire situation has just been heartbreaking to watch. I’ve never been there, but I hear it was quite beautiful prior to the fires. The loss and devastation are simply unfathomable. Great tribute to the situation.
