Origins of Wagon Wheel
So who authored the song we have all been rehearsing? Was curious about this: it wasn’t Darius Rucker, it wasn’t Old Crow Medicine Show although they made it what it is. The song originates from Bob Dylan.

Hey Pete, I had recently read this and was surprised. Like many, I thought it was Olde Crowe Medicine Show.
Dylan is a great lyricist and writer but not a great singer, especially the last 20+ years. He mumbles and can’t be understood. I heard he just booked a year long tour as a headliner. I almost choked on my dinner from laughter.

The reason I looked it up was because I had never been exposed to the song in my 65 years on the planet. Then it made sense because I am definitely not familiar with all of Dylan’s work and my taste is definitely more rock and blues than folk and country although it does crossover as do the artists themselves. Wagon Wheel never made it onto my radar unlike most of the other benchmark songs.
