Parallel Parking… and then some
Posted by Kitman on January 25, 2023 at 6:43 pmHere is a take on an improv for Parallel Parking. The backing track was pretty short so I carried on a bit to drive out to the far reaches of the parking lot. Feedback and ideas are welcome.

That was an “extended parking” lot @Kitman 😱, but you did get to check out all the spaces (LOL)👍 Besides being short, that backing track was not an easy one to play the given scale technique against IMHO. I liked that you played beyond the track because then I could hear more clearly what you were playing, and it sounded good🤩🎸👏👏👏

Hi @Bill_Brown and thanks for taking some time to watch and provide input. I agree with you both in the content and length of the backing track.
When I first started noodling of the track and it abruptly stopped after 48 seconds I thought my computer froze up 😂. Nope – it was just done. 🙃
When the scale provided and the backing track are “busy”, it makes improv a bit challenging. I liked the chord pattern Tony was playing however with all the rolling and sliding going on it made it a bit of a challenge to parallel park! 😱😂🤣
In any case thanks for your feedback and encouragement! I truly appreciate it.

It worked well for you to play beyond the backing track as you could hear your playing very clearly. Well done!

That was really nice (as usual). I just couldn’t come up with anything I could get comfortable with but you really tapped into the vibe of the backing track. Well done.

Hi @bugmeist and thanks for watching the post and for your feedback and encouragement! I agree with you in the backing track – it was a bit difficult to land something on it. It was also very busy as was the scale suggested by Tony. My approach was to pick out a melody of dongle notes and then see how that works with the scale provided. Keep on plucking! 😎🎸🎶
