  • Prevailed Over A Problematic Picking Problem

Posted by TMutter on February 6, 2022 at 12:05 pm

I have always struggled with playing with a pick and until TAC had really just given up. The last few months I have had a breakthrough and I attribute most of it to this simple hack: I have a bunch of guitar picks (cheap free ones at GC or other stores) and I have them everywhere. In the car, in coat pockets etc. I try to have one in my picking had as much as possible. Just rolling it in my fingers, picking at random things, and over time it has just felt like an extension of my fingers where before it felt like a barrier between my finger tips and the strings. It has made a huge difference. Plus I have been a “fidgety” person since I was a youngling so this is natural habit for me that is now put to good use ! 😆

Really great tip @TMutter ! Glad you’ve found a solution, and I’m sure it is part of your successful song writing and performances. Keep at it Terry – can only get easier the more you become familiar with it and use it as a tool.

That’s a good idea. I’m still getting occasional pick spin when I’m strumming hard. It is infuriating. I think I’ll give this a go. 🤟😎🎸
