Well I have been doing the TAC routine for about a year now (although I took six weeks off this summer). I have progressed but not as much as I would like. My big problem is that when I work on songs, I can never get them to the point of being clean. The songs I pick I can play the chords, but I get hung up when I do. Things like playing the chords but incorrectly fretting one of the chord notes, or struggling with a transition, or not being able to play an intro which involves single note playing smoothly. I thought I would be further along than I am. One of the things that I may be doing wrong is on the Daily Challenge, I very seldom play along with Tony as I cannot keep up. Also I will often times quit after the 10 minute minimum because I want to work on a song, not because I have the exercise nailed. I guess you can say I am on the pity pot today as I am working on a song for VOM that just isn’t coming together.

@Dirk_R As someone who has watched you since you joined and seen the progress, I can truly say I think you’re being a tad tough on yourself. You have improved in leaps and bounds and are doing extremely well for only having a year under your belt. Most guitar teachers would agree that those who begin in TAC and do the minimum 10 minutes and work on other songs are way more advanced than just the normal student. I think you should give yourself a good pat on the back and high five and just keep doing what you’ve been doing, because it is obviously working. Keep on plunking!!
