Put a sock on it!!!
(another longwinded Fred story). yesterday in went down to the local music shop in Daytona just to hang out and see if anyone interesting was playing guitars. Sure enough an older guy (still younger than me of course) was there testing out some Taylor acoustics. These were really nice ones. He played in a flatpicking older jazz style and sang beautifully. he was the real deal. What i noticed is that he put what looked like and old sock on his right forearm to protect the beautiful guitars from sweat, oils or whatever. It was another Duh! moment for me. As soon as I got home I looked in my sock drawer, selected an appropriate victim and cut it essentially in half. Now I can play my beautiful hd 28 without marring the surface with my sticky self. so…if you have a valued guitar put a sock on it and see what you think.

Brilliant!
This idea is even more valuable for those of us with satin finish guitars. The icky doesn’t just wipe off like it does on a gloss finish. Thanks Fred!

@Mrfredsporty , This is a great idea. Thank you so much for it. I have been using a dish cloth to lay on my guitar when i’m sweaty (ugh). But, using the sock is a fantastic idea. Thanks again

I put the sock on my fretting hand. Didn’t get great tone, but my fretboard stays clean! 😛

I use a lightweight, long sleeve T shirt in the summer when playing for that very reason. Works great.
