  • Question about 30 Days to Play

Posted by Greg_S on March 21, 2023 at 5:18 pm

I’m at the end of week #1, but I’m not proficient at what was taught in week #1. Should I still move on and start week #2 in order to stay on schedule, or should I continue to work on the week #1 lessons until I am more proficient at them?

Is the idea to just get exposure to all the content (Blues, Chords, Strumming, Soloing) in the first 30 days and then go back and keep working on all that until I get proficient at it? Or should I wait until I am proficient at one week’s content before moving on to the next week even if that takes longer than 30 days?

I realize that we should not let the perfect become the enemy of the good, and that the expectation is not that we will master the content in one week. But if I don’t feel like I have reached even a basic level of competency on the week #1 content, should I keep at it or move on to week #2?

    Thank you!

I don’t have an answer but I feel you! I started the 30 day course this past Sunday and did the blues shuffle and blues bass line on Monday and Tuesday. Today I felt like it was smarter to practice both of those lessons instead of moving on so I did (about 3-4x each) and I thought that was time well spent.

There are a total of about 18 topics in the 30 day course, so it looks like there are practice/no lesson days baked in.

BTW I’m 64 with ZERO guitar experience. If I can manage even one bar of decent picking and rhythm it feels like a win to me!
