    1. I’ve completed 30 days to play and the 5 day routine, so I’ve successfully navigated through the intro portion of TAC!

    2. I have played every day since the day I joined (7/3/2024) including weekends, most days for 30 – 90 minutes but always at least 10 min. Got the calluses back, baby!

    3. Today I discovered things would probably be easier for me on an acoustic guitar (my electric has pretty high action and chords often don’t sound the same. I picked up the wife’s acoustic again and it was way easier to verify that I’m playing chords correctly just by the sound. Also this guitar, even after just a short time playing it, is clearly easier to play. It would probably be even better if I put new strings on it, since the ones on there are probably 35 years old and noticeably worn. That’s a win.

    4. That means I’m probably buying myself a new guitar sooner than I thought – counting this as a win too because I’m very excited about it and want to play guitar more than ever!

@langerking. What a beautiful array of wins!

Congratulations on completing the 30 days to play and the 5 Guitar routine. In case you missed the Jumpstart to TAC, don’t forget to visit the other intro courses. Daily Stretch for Guitar (very important to avoid injury and inability to play), Strumming Jumpstart, Next 6 Chords.

I’m really surprised that your electric was more difficult to play than the acoustic. That is typically not the case. The electric is a much easier instrument to play. I often practice on my electric. You might want to have both guitars set up by a luthier. Also, if the acoustic hasn’t been stored in a climate controlled comtrolled atmosphere, there might be some necessary repairs and/or adjustments that need to be made.

Buying a new guitar is very exciting. You’ll have to let us know what you purchase and post photos.

    Overall, some really fantastic wins!

Yes I had heard that electric would be easier to fret for a beginner so I was a little surprised myself. This was a very low cost guitar under $200, not sure I want to spend $75 – $100 for a set up. I think any adjustments I make will be done by Luthier Langer. I’m pretty handy and know how to search YouTube. There are a number of things on it that I have to fix, but the strings have to got to come off and well I can’t play it when that happens. I’ve got some sharp fret edges (thankfully they’re mostly on top of the neck so they don’t bother me much); I went ahead and ordered the right type of files to take care of that. Now that I know I can play on the old acoustic I won’t mind taking my strat out of commission for a bit.

Buying a new guitar has ALWAYS been inspirational for me. You will likely come to find out that each has its own personality, similar to children.
