  • Show Off Your Routine

1.) How many days per week do you play?

I was optimistic about playing 7 days per week, but it has lessened down to about 4. With two jobs, a wife who wants to walk 5 miles per day with me and people asking me to do more at church, it has become hard to get consistent playing time in. I love it, though and want to play as much as I can!

2.) What time of day do you play?

As I said in the last answer, I have two jobs, I am a school counselor by day and a contractual therapist at night. So, I try to get my practice time in between the two commitments. With the weather getting warmer, it is harder to get to the basement office and play.

    3.) Where do you play?

I play in my basement office. I used to play in the family room where I would have my guitar on a stand on the fireplace, but since getting a new puppy, I am afraid she will bite the guitar and then she’d have to go. So, until she can behave herself and keep her teeth off of my six-string, I have to brave the cold basement.

4.) How has implementing a consistent guitar routine helped you? (if possible name 3 ways).

    – It has given me motivation to practice every day.

    – It has given me focus on what to practice and helped me see improvement.

    – It helps me to know that what I am doing is meaningful and not just messing around with the same old stuff.

    — It has totally made guitar playing fun again. I am doing things I never thought I could do.

5.) Bonus Question: What is one non-guitar item that is a must have in your guitar routine?

Headphones. I like listening to the instructions or the background track through my airpods and playing along. It makes me feel like a real musician.
