  • Small fingers…….damn pinky

Blessed with small hands……pinky will never be able to stretch to get for example a B flat or E flat power chord (Duck Walk lesson). Appreciate the interim or alternative that Tony showed us, but my fingers aren’t growing…..lol. I know I am not alone………. Absolutely love guitar, but I I certainly know my limitations. Tell me I’m not alone TAC community!

Your hand position is key. Even with small hands, you will eventually be able to make this reach. I did it very poorly last year and much more easily this year. Personally, I like to lift the neck up so it’s near my eyes but about a foot in front of me for this drill. Holding it horizontally I wouldn’t be able to do it.

Over time your hands will gain more flexibility and your reach will increase.

If I hold my left hand against my right hand, the left can stretch over an inch further than the right. One of my instructors pointed out to me that there are 10 year old kids that can stretch 6 frets, so it should be doable for me too with time.
