Small win
I attended a bluegrass jam Saturday. I left amazed! “Tickled pink.” “Pinching myself.” Was that really me? I have been consistently playing and practicing for 2 1/2 years. (Since joining TAC.) Keeping logs, scratching notes on my Daily Practice tabs. Watching the growth. The last six months I have been attending the Friday night VOM-played 4 or 5 times. Just enjoying my guitar journey. Friday night at the Bluegrass jam was a real high! I can’t describe the satisfaction of walking into the hall we play at, and feeling, for once at total ease. Getting my guitar out amid the rumblings and bright flashing of lightning as rain pounded the roof, tuning my Baby Taylor, grabbing my capo, a few picks in my pocket and grabbing a chair for the circle. Thanks to what I have learned via TAC and fellow TAC guitar geeks, I knew when a fiddle led out I better be in the key of A or have the Capo on the 2nd fret with G shapes. There was no hesitation on my part. No music (tab) would have terrified me as to what do I play, but thanks to Jam 101 I knew if I get stuck, go back to just ” bassing” the low E string and play a bass pattern. Thanks to Fretboard Wizard I knew to listen for chord changes and that I, IV, V are the likely chords. I know the musical alphabet and can find what I need. No, I don’t have it all together. I drooled with envy as I watched fingers fly across the Fretboard in licks and fingerpicking. That’s okay, I was confident in my hammer ons and pulloffs with extra notes thrown in. Most of the songs I didn’t know but I could still join in despite that not knowing. I am amazed and flabbergasted in a WOW!!! Way because I am staying the course with what and how I’ve been taught these past 2.5 years. I am confident that it will keep getting better and better. And to think this “big win” happened because of lots and lots and lots of small wins happened and were noted so I could keep moving one small step at a time! YES!!!!! YAHOO!!!!
