  • Small Win – G-C-D Chords – Fingers

Posted by Terry6422000 on April 7, 2021 at 8:21 pm

I’m now in my second week of the 30 Days to Play and find myself really enjoying each lesson – looking forward to picking up the guitar at the end of the day in spite of sore fingers. I’m starting to make good progress in making the G, C, & D Chords consistently. Today, when I started, my fingers were not sore and actually fell into place when I started with the D Chord.

I’m also listening to “Tiny Habits” and have incorporated the celebrations after each lesson – just a single word “SUCCESS!”.

Thats a great WIN!! in time your fingers will hurt less, there are many songs that you will find have those 3 chord in them have fun playing.

Thank you! It’s definitely encouraging and I’m enjoying playing enough my fingers aren’t slowing me down. 😊

The sore fingers will pass. I think we all put it out of our minds at some point and forget how sore sore is, and how long it takes, but I promise that does get better. Glad to read that has started for you!

Great job on getting those chords down, add Am in and you have the pop world at your fretting fingertips 🙂

Thank you for the encouragement! I knew going in my fingers would hurt some so I’m staying focused on the long game. I’m trying to listen closer to songs now to see if I can identify the chord’s being played but I’ve got a long way to go.

In about 1.5 years, I went from having sore fingertips to filing down my calluses with an emery board once every 7-10 days. Keep on keepin’ on, it just gets better. Remember that over the coming months and years, you’ll have periods where you think you aren’t progressing. Just keep doing your daily lesson, and when you have some extra time, spend 10-15 minutes working on something that you’re struggling with. At some point, that’s bar chords for just about everyone. Could be hammer-ons, scales, theory, etc. But if you keep practicing consistently, you’ll eventually cruise past the “stuckness” and realize that you’re no longer having trouble (or as much trouble) with the things you’ve been working on.

Thank you for the encouragement! I really want to learn and wish I had stuck with it as a kid when I had my first guitar.

Great job! Soon you won’t even think about sore fingers with time. Keep at it 🙂
