Anybody have a favorite song book that is easy and will let me apply Tone Man’s lesson’s or even a fav website to learn song. Have been doing the daily challenge and need to play a song or two

What type of songs are you prefer? And do you prefer flatpicking, fingerpicking, or chord strumming?

Gosh, that kind of caught me off guard. Not to sure I know? I like the blues lately but anything would work as long as I can start to apply what I am learning.

I use the website UltimateGuitar for almost all of the songs I learn.

In the early days of TAC Tony offered a selection of songs for subscription but when the site took a change he left it for TAC members. I find songs on YouTube or Ultimate Guitar ot Guitar Tabs but below is the link to Tony’s Song Vault if that is helpful. I usually include one of these songs in my quarterly goals. Right now I’m working on Whiskey for Breakfast.

this is a great resource, though wonder if anyone has the tabs to some of these?

The tabs are buried in the lessons as attachments. This was early on and the format of the site was different.

I dont know if you are a fan of John Prine but his book “<b style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; color: var(–bb-body-text-color);”>John Prine Beyond Words” is wonderful. It has photos of John as well as photos of the actual handwritten lyrics when he was writing the song. The benefit of learning Johns music is that he used very basic chords. Most of his songs (about 70%…. i calculated it … thats another story) in this book use 3 chords. As you progress you can begin playing some of this songs finger style. Learning Johns songs was how I learned to play finger style.

I’m not in the song learning phase yet, but I occasionally get the itch to play a lick or two! One of my favorite YouTubers for learning songs is Marty Schwartz, I find he does a great job of breaking a song down for a beginner to learn quickly.

Check out Marty Music on YouTube.
Here’s a sample of how he teaches a Led Zep classic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IDJIwD6on-Q&pp=ygUWbWFydHkgc2Nod2FydHoga2FzaG1pcg%3D%3D
