The pink screen of “unable to post reply”
Posted by Kitman on July 11, 2022 at 4:04 pmHi all,
Every once and awhile when I attempt to post a reply to someone the block that contains my response turns pink and then it does not get posted. BTW, I am posting using an IOS device (iPhone or iPad) Does anyone have any ideas for this?
Thanks,
Kit

Wouldn’t it be cool if others were trying to answer your post right now- only to get the “pink screen of death”?
How ironic………
But then, I guess, how would we know?🤔

Yes @Kitman , S*it happens😱 In my past experience with the “Pink Panther” screen (of death☠), it means that I’ve been robbed of valuable thoughts (and time)😟 causing a lot of frustration and angry words directed at my computer🤬 But I’ve found that the usual suspect🧐 is myself, likely because I did something st%pid (perhaps logging onto other sites and toggling back and forth while trying to post accurate information)😩 only to find that somehow I was logged off of the site🤯 – even though I’m still on the site😬 How does that happen😧 Don’t really know how or why, but IMHO st*ff happens here😨 Maybe we could write a song about it🤩 or not😎

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣… so I am hearing operator error! One practice I will share that may save at least some of the wasted time part: once I received the pink panther screen of death once, I decided to copy my post and save it in the Notes app in my iPhone. It didn’t help me get it posted but at least I didn’t have to type it umpteen times! Yesterday this was finally resolved when I logged onto my laptop. I was able to respond to the list there.
Thanks for the commiseration and help! 😀

@Kitman, it is not operator error. I don’t know why it happens, but it does. It’s nothing you are doing wrong. For a while there it seemed like everyone was having this issue then it stopped. I just started getting it again last week. I have had it happen at least 4 times since it started.

@Kitman , I have been getting the pink screen off and on since last week. I have tried to refresh, close out the program and reopen, I’ve rebooted. Nothing seems to help. I write my reply in word and copy / paste over to the site now. Good luck.

Ok @Cadgirl , now for the really ironic thing…. I started getting my screen of pink death when I was attempting to reply to you in thread in a different forum! Spooooooooky! 👻
It seems to be Ok… for now! 😝
-
ah ha…. a finger pointer! Just teasing with you @Kitman. I was looking up different reasons for the pink screen and i’m getting driver issues for your graphics card, heat issues. Maybe too many applications are open on your desktop (hmmmm…. that sounds like me)? I’ll look into the graphic drivers and see if I need an update and let you know. Maybe that’s it? I don’t know.
-
Wasn’t finger pointing at all @Cadgirl – just thought it was super ironic we were both having the pinkies at the same time. 😄
Thanks for your research feedback. One of the things I thought about about from my “habits” point of view is I tend to log into TAC across multiple devices (phone, iPad, computer) and don’t always log out. This is particularly true in my computer when I actually do my guitar routine vs just checking forums, threads, etc. also, when I am in my daily TAC session routine I will open multiple TAC screens with the challenge, backing track, tab, song vault, etc and tend to leave them open. I am guessing my habits here are probably not very useful to the load on my equipment, bandwidth and the TAC forum resources. That said, I am a pretty old dog! 🐾🦴 bit still may be able to learn a new trick or two 🪄🙂🤘

Cadgirl– “Reply in Word, then copy/ paste over to the site”……. (?)
Kitman– “Copy my post and save it in the Notes app in my iPhone”……. (?)
🤨
I live under a rock………. and like it😎!!!!
Have a great day-

🤣🤣
@the-old-coach think of it as writing something on the back of your hand with a grease pencil so you won’t forget what you wanted to say! 😂
-
@Kitman @the-old-coach , something like when we had to take a test in school and you wrote stuff on your wrist. ha ha ha

It happened to me this morning😱 I was marking the lesson complete and nothing was happening. I went to post a comment for todays lesson – and there it was😡I used the back button thinking I could start again, and I got Zen Tony – Whoa – you don’t have access – the sign-in screen🤔 I did the Learn video, opened the tab, played for a while against the back track – how could I not be logged in🤒…..Obviously I was logged in to do all that – I got bumped off🧐 that’s what happened – not human error – TAC server error…..That’s my story and I’m stickin’ to it😇

Hi @Bill_Brown . I wonder if we need to begin wearing tin foil hats? 🤪
Is there a problem log somewhere on the site by which we can address these things to the TAC team?

It seems there is a “support page” on which you can leave a request of ask questions. I navigated there any left a question on the “pink screen of death” explaining what is happening and asking for any help or input. Will keep you posted (unless I get a pink screen of death!) 😂

I submitted a question to TAC support and here was the reply. Hope it helps! Note: when the statement “Chrome is always suggested” is noted below I asked for some clarification. TAC support indicates that users report the best TAC experience using the Chrome browser. Happy posting! 😃
TAC Support Respone: Hi – Thanks for reaching out and for the kind words. We are certainly happy to have you with us in the TAC Community!
For the pink screen – The next time you have an instance of this, please screenshot the error and shoot us an Email in TAC Support. support@tonypolecastro.com
Please also let us know what Forum post you’re trying to comment to, as well as the device and browser being used.
In most every instance, when a TAC Member has had an issue like this, we have been able to post for them on our end with no issue. It is most likely that it comes down to devices/browsers. (Chrome is always most suggested.)
Suggestions prior to writing in will be to log out of TAC, clear your cache on your device, reboot, log in and try again. If you still have the same result…test by trying on a different device if you have one.
After that, if you’re still getting the error, by all means write in with the info needed to troubleshoot.

@Kitman , I wrote something and used my backup key to erase what I had just written down. When I hit that last backup, the cursor turned pink. Then when I went to write my message again. Lo and Behold, a pink screen. This is not ‘us’ doing something wrong. I did this a few times, same result. But, try it yourself and see if you get the same results that I did.

I tried this sequence in Chrome a couple times and was unable to produce the pinks. I will try in Safari.
-
-
Hmmmm. I was also unable to achieve the pinks in Safari at this time @Cadgirl . That said, it does seem that you are on to something here
-
I get a little neurotic over little things like this. @Kitman . It’s like the computer is having a “deer in the headlight” moment and doesn’t know what to do. So it just…. does nothing.

Hi Kitman
In the 2 1/2 or so years since I joined TAC I’ve only had an issue with posting once or twice. That was because I switched from the TAC site to do other tasks on my PC. For some unknown reason I got logged out of TAC while it was in the background while I did some other tasks. The TAC screen that I had left was still visible and editable but not active for posting. I simply logged back in and picked up where I left off. As a side note I’ve been using Microsoft’s Edge browser since I joined and have not had any issues with TAC’s websites, old and new.
