This is how Poppa TAC’s
1.) How many days per week to you play? My goal is to play 6 days per week 1 time per day at least 1 hour – 1 1/2 hours per session. Sometimes it is 7 days per week, 3 times per day or 5 times per week 1 time per day for 30 minutes. So here are the numbers. I have been a TAC member for 82 days. With my plan I should have off 13 days. So far in those 82 days I have been off for 15 days. What is wrong with me I should be playing “something” everyday. Ramble, ramble, ramble get to playing Poppa.
2.) What time of day do you play? Early from 0530 to 0700, then sometimes when I walk by my guitar it just jumps into my arms for a moment of inspiration. Huh……
3.) Where do you play? I play in my shop where I have a dedicated place for practice. I’m in my shop nearly all day so I pass by my guitar multiple times per day. Do you see the problem here? It is hard for me to get any work done in my shop because that pesky Gibson Rosewood (Rosie) is always staring me down. Go figure.
4.) What was your guitar life like before having a guitar routine & how has implementing a consistent guitar routine helped you? Before creating a guitar routine my guitars were in the closet in their case in the back bedroom closet of my house. If I wanted to play the same few chords I always played I had to have an archeological dig in my back room to find the long lost relic with 6 strings. A) Implementing a guitar routine has put the focus on my guitar front and center.
B) Creating a daily routine has put me in ” The Chair” with the Guitar in my lap and the TAC routine in my face all most everyday. In the last 82 days I have played my Guitar more that I have played her in the last 20 years. Can’t help but improve.
C) With daily playing I am slowly starting to see this guitar dream blossom into a real life possibility of actually playing something besides a few chords then putting down the guitar because my fingers hurt. My fingers still hurt but I am starting to here real music come out of this beautiful instrument. Hoooooray and Thank you Tony.
5.) Bonus question: What is one non – guitar item that is a must in your guitar routine? OK please do not think I am nuts but the one non-guitar thing in my routine is : I get up at 5 am everyday, Get my first cup of Joe and my Granola bar, go to my living room turn on the one eyed monster and tune in to The Cowboy channel and watch 30 minutes of “Gentle Giants” (Draft horses). This calms my mind and prepares me to concentrate on Rosie for the next 1 – 1 1/2 hours.
