Traveling options
Posted by Ron-A on January 22, 2025 at 11:16 amHi all,
OK, been loving week two of the daily challenges. Will be traveling tomorrow and will be OOT until next Tuesday. Any suggestions on how to keep up while on the road. I will not be able to bring my guitar 🙁 … Golf clubs already taking up the extra space ;). I would like to be able to complete the daily challenges from the previous week, when I get back, just not sure if that is possible. Thanks for all the support / help.

You could rent a guitar, or just go in the guitar room and goof around. You could study some theory. Did you sign up for Fretboatd Wizard with TAC? ThAT would be a good place to start. You can also just google guitar theory, CAGED system. I DID THIS WHEN I couldn’t play – Simply watch the daily videos .

When you get back you can go back to the previous week. Personally I would just skip it (it will come back around) and just focus on the new week. Since the weeks don’t build on each other it’s fine to skip and just go with the current week.

I always try to see if there are any guitar stores (or even pawn shops/antique shops) around and if I have time will go try to visit and play some guitar.
Also I got this d’addario thing which I take on vacations now and I’ll use it in various ways while I watch YouTube guitar videos!

Oh – and I also got a GS-Mini and if there’s room in the car that comes with on most road trips now. 🙂 Rock on!

Oh yeah – and when I miss days I will often try to go back and do the prior lessons if I have time. You can usually find them at the bottom of the ‘daily challenge’ start page.

There are a lot of pretty neat travel guitar options. I picked up a 3/4 (probably more like 4/5) size on Amazon for $200, it sounds amazing so I’m really pleased but there’s another called a Nova Go that’s only $109.

I travel a lot for work, and this is a challenge. I do have a small Martin 0x2e that I take occasionally when not flying. I have a playlist of songs I know and are learning that I listen to. This helps a little. It still takes me a couple of days to get back into playing form after being out for a week. It is getting better though. I’m thinking of picking up a small Martin Backpacker to take while flying. I don’t think they sound that great, but at least I could press my fingers on some chorded frets and play a little.
On a side note, the joy I have picking up the guitar after being gone for a week is exhilarating. I just got back from Miami last night, and can’t wait to play later today when I’m off work.
