  • trouble building a routine…

Posted by guitar_monkey on February 10, 2022 at 6:24 pm

    Hello all,

I am new to TAC, long time guitar owner and just as long dabbler. I am trying to find or start a routine that can get and keep me motivated. I have been following the daily challenges and then maybe some of the fretboard wizard.

Just trying to determine a real motivation and as importantly, a routine…..

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks,

    the monkey

Hey @guitar_monkey , first I’d like to welcome you to the group. I would recommend starting a log, write down the date, what you practice and for how long. I’m a computer gal so I use an excel spreadsheet. But, you can just write it on paper. That’s a good start. I can’t stick to a routine of, ‘I have a special area to practice’ or ‘right after I get a cup of coffee’. I play when I play. If you are doing the daily challenge and a little fretboard wizard you’re probably putting in 20 minutes a day (good for you). Use the stop watch on your IPhone too. You’ll be surprised how long you are actually playing the guitar. The motivation could be anything, it could be able to sit on the porch and just play some riffs or making someone laugh at a song you made up. Don’t get discouraged it ain’t easy 🙂 TAC is here to help you.
