Yuck- A with a bar, B with a Bar, and an impossible stretch. I tried it I am done with it. Was I supposed to do this? Was I supposed to do this weekly Progress Tracker first? Or, was I supposed to do the 30-day challenge first. Or, do the Fretting course first. This weekly stuff is too advanced, I am not having fun. It is a constant battle to do the challenge. Suggestion? If I do not do this challenge it marks me off in the number of times in a row I practice and days in a row, or something like that. Not having a positive experience! I keep asking why is Tony putting these advanced things in this soon? 😖 🤬

It probably pays to do the 30 Day challenge first. That said, it doesn’t hurt to give the daily challenge a try every no and then. I find the daily challenge is a lot like the NYT Crossword puzzles in that the Monday and Tuesday editions are bit easier than the ones later in the week. I try each one, but I don’t spend too much time on ones that seem too advanced for me at this point. Hope this helps.

Jacquelyn, I definitely recommend the 30 days to play first, and then the Next 6 chords after that, and it’s a lot more fun for beginners, and you’ll learn a lot of foundational skills that you can use in the daily challenges. And yes, they are challenges. If they were easy, we’d all be rock stars – LOL.

You had a definite win today – You attempted the daily challenge, practiced the minimum of 10 minutes, attempted new chords (barre chords are difficult and will come later in your playing), and you had the lightbulb moment that maybe you should focus on some more basic skill building. It won’t affect your ‘counter’ by doing the 30 days to play versus the daily challenge. You receive credit just for showing up on the TAC site.

Hang in there, regroup, and start the 30 days to play and have some fun!

Jacquelyn, looking at the Daily Challenge after joining in July I knew I didn’t know enough to even try so went for the 30 Day Challenge and it was more than enough challenge for me since I had no musical background. Finished it, then went for next 6 chords. After that I worked on a number of skills lessons. Finger stretching ones were especially helpful for my old hands.

Didn’t try Daily Challenge for over 3 months and am now sort of getting it sometimes, and continue to work on various skills lessons when I can.

You can do this, just don’t overwhelm yourself trying to do things you’re not ready for at this time. When I hit something that is too much, I go back to to a skill or chord and click on Play so I can maintain my goal of playing every day. My longest streak was 44 days and I am now up to 43 on my recent streak. Going for it! Cheers

Oh yeah, and did I say that so far my 76 year old hands can’t do barre chords and many of these stretches in the lessons seem impossible? But I am making gains, and you will as well. Keep on keepin’ on Jacquelyn.

I just found out that the Bell in the corner means “You’ve Got Mail” hahah. So, I just read all your messages. Thank you all for your positive and reassuring comments and help to navigate the program. Knowing what the Daily challenge means is not enough. You must be able to have the skill to play what you see in chords, tabs, scales, etc… I walked in the house tonight after riding MC all day and thought, “I still have to practice!” I was not looking forward to it! But yesterday I promised myself I would look at the other less intense lessons. Finding your comments by sheer accident motivated me and I want to practice. Thank YOU ALL!! I may not have commented on all your videos, but I enjoyed them all!!
