  • Week 2 Chord Practice … No Faster Pace?

Posted by kathy502 on December 10, 2025 at 2:06 pm

Is it me? I’m in Week 2 and in the top video, Tony says he’s going to count down from 5 and then move to a faster pace so that we learn to place our fingers faster — but it’s just on a repeating loop of the 5 countdown. There’s never a 4 countdown and then a 3 countdown as he said there would be. What am I missing?

Yeah, you just do it in your head: either don’t start until he reaches 3 or 1 whatever or else you can speed up the video up to 2x normal. Whatever works for you. It’s not all fancy bells and whistles here.

Aaaah – okay. He says he’s going to do shorter counts, so that’s what I was expecting – but I can definitely just start on 3 instead of 5. Thanks!

What’s going to be more beneficial than just starting from your hand at your thighs is to transition between chords. Go from A minor to C and back or rotate between 3 or 4 chords. I did a search on common chord progressions and found this list. I am not promoting this site in any way. Just listing some common chords used in songs and this came up in my search, looked useable. I usually use progressions in songs that I am in the progress of learning.

You may not have learned the F chord yet since it’s either full barre or mini barre, just skip if for now.

Hi Kathy, welcome to the family! Just as a further explanation, this site changed several years ago. The old site had Tony counting down in a practice video. I think when they transitioned to the new website they weren’t able to incorporate that aspect of the videos and the videos are still useful for teaching and going through the 30 days to play so it would’ve been too burden someone costly to redo the videos.
