Here is my first Benchmark song video “Wagon Wheel” Day 66 Week 11 of Tony’s Acoustic Guitar Challenge. The song played with chords G D Em C . Will upload Daily Challenge video after learning weeks challenges Technique, licks, improvisation, etc.
As Tony says “Here goes nothing!” Feedback appreciated.

Nice chord changes, good tempo… well done… look forward to hearing the same song in three months
-
Very Nice ! By the way. Where do you find the benchmark songs?
-
@harrymoon53comcast-net the benchmark weeks come up every 2 months or 6 weeks possibly. The same songs are repeated like 3 times per year so you have ample opportunity to measure yourself.
-
If we heart every lesson in the week for that song, we can go back at any time and practice, right?
-
Yes! look for it in your favorites. You can play them anytime you like so you’ll never peeve.
-
Hey @petelanger , I think we have been hitting the benchmarks every month lately. Jan.-Aint No Sunshine, Feb.- Wagon Wheel, Mar.- Hotel Califonia, Apr.- Old Man.

I would love to participate – where do I find the benchmark song tabs? If part of a weekly challenge, I guess I missed the connection. Got it! I answered my own question! Thanks

This is my first go-round with a benchmark song, having just completed the 5-Day Challenge two weeks ago. Looking forward to sharing my progress. Okay, here’s a dumb question…is it expected that I practice the benchmark song every week from now on (in addition to subsequent daily challenges), or do most people wait until the benchmark song comes around again in the rotation to pick it up again? I’d like to hear what the more experienced TAC members do. Thanks.

Could anyone kindly point me to the tutorials for the Benchmark songs? Thank you! ❤

Hi Donna.
The benchmark songs will be found in the daily challenges. The daily challenge typically opens up when you enter the site. It will say Welcome …. Has a link to Today’s challenge, has calendar to view previous challenges (can only view the current month challenges.” Will then have your stats.
Click on Start Challenge. It will open to that days challenge. The benchmark song will typically be the 1st weeks song. This month, it is American Pie. Click on the month Guitar Routine at the top and it will open to list all the lessons for the month.
There are 4 benchmark songs, Ain’t No Sunshine, Wagon Wheel, Hotel California, and Old Man. Each month will include one of these. The purpose is to compare your progress over time.On the menu at the left side, click on Daily Challenge ( typically the first screen that comes up is at your daily challenge screen, Click on Daily challenge, click on where it says the month and at the top center and all the lessons for the month will be listed.

Hi Tony,
I am wondering where the tabs for the 4 songs are located? I may have missed something that would allow me to find these. Please advise.
Thanks,
Larry W. Ritter

Hey… taking time to do my first plan/journal and contact the forum… I’m hoping to increase my frequencies from December through to March… really enjoying mixing things up with the Fretboard wizard and weekly challenges
-
Great idea to do your plan. Your post reminds me to do my plan. I have just finished 1 year of TAC and do it everyday and love it. Next year I plan to do an open mic session as well as first family sing-a-long during the holidays. I also look to focus on fingerpicking songs. Good luck with your plan and playing.

Awesome Wagon Wheel rendition. Congrats on your first go around. Keep it up, you’re sounding good.

Yeah… I’m still confused. Joined thinking g there were step by step programs but when I logged in, there was some program of the day that was already several steps ahead, then saw this post about these songs but not seeing anyone’s videos to even see what I’m in for. I actually kinda know Wagon Wheel but I’ve been at the same skill level for years. So I’m not sure when/how to post a later video of if I don’t improve on it.

Thanks, Pete. I’ve looked at the guide and am trying the 5 day thing now as well, though it’s Saturday and they’re organized by day of the week. I’m still struggling with a structured schedule of “fun to play rather than practice” routines. I noticed you replied to my other comment about not even understanding the first video I clicked on, so I’ll go check that out as well. Trey

I understand the goals of the benchmark songs. But I can’t figure out how to access a tab or a lesson on how to play the song. Help please?
-
You don’t have to do anything different. TAC is the simplest program, ever. (Not easy, there’s a difference between simple and easy). Just show up every week day and the goal is set for the day. This holds true for benchmark weeks and all other weeks.
Every month a benchmark song will come into the rotation of the TAC daily challenges. Next week we’ll start Hotel Calif (known here as 5* Hotel-BM3). The following month it will be Old Man-BM4, then Ain’t No Sunshine-BM1 and finally Wagon Wheel-BM2. These four BM weeks repeat over and over throughout the year, since there are 4, you’ll see each one 3 times per year.

Life happens and I’ve fallen off of the path and want to get back on. How do I pick up where I left off?
-
Just jump in where everyone else is, we start Hotel California benchmark week tomorrow. TAC isn’t a linear program, it’s cyclical. You’ll be fine starting at any time in the program because it’s made that way. Some weeks are tougher than others, but they aren’t organized from easy to hard. Just do your best!
