  • When I’m 64 (The Beatles)

This is not a guitar song. I had never heard it played on an acoustic (or seen how you could), until recently. I haven’t mastered it; but here is my attempt (though I talk it instead of sing it); complete with errors and cutting off the ending. When it came out in the summer of 1967 I was two weeks away from 15. I walked across the bridge over the Rock River from Rock Falls to Sterling, Illinois to go to Woolworth’s, and picked up Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. When I got home my eyes devoured the album cover (and its hidden secrets); read the lyrics; and listened to the audio smorgasbord. It is hard to grasp that was over 58 years ago.

Ok. I grinned all the way through this. Remember the release well and still have the vinyl. But wouldn’t it be nice to be only 64? Fun post.

@Skyman911 Thanks! 64 is a fine age. Enjoy!

@albert_d Thanks! Yes; 64 is in the year view mirror quite a while now, and the hair left a long time ago.

Sweet! Always been one of my favorites! I wouldn’t call it talking, your half singing! Nicely done @Philb !

I was 64 when I started TAC last July (a day before my birthday)! I’m 66 now. 🙂

Nice job Phil! Good playing and vocals together….playing and singing is always a challenge but you’ve nailed it. When Im learning a song I often speak the vocals first which helps with the timing and knowing when to come in on what note or chord change. Keep up the good work brother! Pushing 66….

Thank you! I’m not brave. I have been in TAC long enough to know I will not play perfectly (but that’s okay); this is a generous community; it is good for me to post and get feedback; and it is good to make contact with other TAC members. Enjoy your experience here!
